PUBLIC NOTICE: NSP Substantial Amendment

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) provides emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities. For more information about the NSP program in general, please visit www.hud.gov/nsp.

The following document serves as Lake County's amendment to its FY2008 CDBG Action Plan to receive NSP funds. It describes the proposed programs that will be funded, the areas that have the greatest need of assistance, the areas that will receive assistance, and additional information as required by HUD. Based on a formula devised by HUD, Lake County will receive $5,734,024 of NSP funds. The funds will be allocated to the following uses:

Public Comments

The Lake County Community Economic Development Department (LCCEDD) will act as the lead agency for administering NSP funds for the Urban County. Lake County encourages residents to provide comment and feedback on this application.

The public comment period starts on November 14, 2008 and ends on November 28, 2008.

All written comments received by the County during the public comment period will be considered before submitting a final amendment to HUD. All comments should be addressed to: Milan Grozdanich, LCCEDD, 2293 N. Main St., Room A-311, Crown Point, IN 46307.
